Wow! This captured me from the beginning and kept imprisoned
Annabel, and Cody were easy to imagine and seemed to come to life from the pages. The story was well developed and their was real development of the relationship that let you believe they were falling in love. I am glad to know that I will meet these two who are old friends to me now, in Saving Grace. Thanks Jennifer and can we have another!

Way to Happiness: An Inspiring Guide to Peace, Hope and Contentment
Published in Paperback by Alba House (January, 1998)
Author: Fulton J., Ph.D. Sheen
Average review score:

Wonderful, inspirational book, no matter what your faith!
I recently became a fan of Fulton Sheen after seeing an old broadcast from the 1960's. This book only enhanced my warm feelings toward this witty and hilarious archbishop.

If you have never read anything by, or even heard of this man, I would definitely recommend this as a first reading. It's short, but the message within these lines speak volumes.

A major impact many years ago
Home on leave from the Air Force in 1961, I was so arrogant, self impressed and (I now know) in the early stages of depression, that my Mother took me out in the back yard one summer evening an said that if I couldn't change the way I treated my family I could just go back to the Air Force base and never return. I was shattered (I knew, of course, that I was right...about everthing...and everyone else was screwed up). I left on a Greyhound bus the next morning, sadder and more despondant than I had ever been. At the first stop I went into the bus station, walked up to the book rack and saw Bishop Sheen's Way to Happiness. Out of desparation as much as anything else, I bought it and read it though several times. I'd like to tell you that it changed my life instantly. It didn't...but over the years that followed the effect of this wonderful book was magnificent. I did return home, many times over the years and my Mother and I developed a relationship that was beyond anything either of us could have expected. It ultimately lead to her conversion to Catholicism when she was in her mid sixties (I had converted at 18). One of the last things I ever did for this wonderful woman (who loved me enough to take the chance of possibily sending me away forever), was to bring her Holy Communion a short time before she died. Bishop Sheen's little book made all the difference in the world.

A book of wisdom and depth for all ages.
Years ago my mother gave me a copy of "Way to Happiness", but it wasn't until she passed away that I actually read it. And it blew my mind!

Although it was written in the early '50s, Fulton Sheen had his finger on the pulse of man's discontent. But more than pointing out our emptiness, Sheen offers sound solutions "Until the "For Sale" sign is hung on a soul emptied of preoccupation with self, the Divine Tenant cannot move in" Wisdom like that is timeless.

I have since given this book to freinds, who are also blessed. Some books are good reads, some are interesting, but few touch your soul, and call for action. "Way to Happiness" is one of those books.

3D Studio MAX Release 2.0 / 2.5 Training CD

I'll need some books about 3d studio max Tutorials
If anybody can help me get or buy these books please mail me at nmeijnen@hotmail.com

Thanks for any respons! :-)

An excellent set of 3DS MAX tutorials
Many training CD's are poorly conceived and I had bad experiences with some in the past. Of course, just one useful model can cover the cost of a CD, so I decided to give this one a try. I was pleasantly surprised to find an HTML-based training course that serves the needs of beginning to advanced users.

The authors appear to really know MAX and organized the training material so that it can be worked through either sequentially or in order of your current interest. I was able to view two tutorials of immediate use without having to wade through prior material. The tutorial on rendering multiple camera views in VP was interesting. So far, there have been no bad experiences with this product.

Models and materials on the CD alone make it worth the cost. The tutorial information is icing on the cake.

On the downside, the product does require obtaining an authorization code. I received the CD on a Friday, but was not able to use it until late Monday nite. You ! should call in to get the code (do not send e-mail). Fortunately, it was worth the wait.

AutoCAD LT 2002 Complete Training CD

Easy to Learn AutoCAD Lt
I heard lt was like AutoCAD but cheaper. So I bought it. But then it was hard to learn. Just even laying out a drawing to scale was hard. The online help didn't do anything and the CD that came with it just covered little bits of things. It took me about a week to do all the projects on this CD, or almost all. Now I use Lt to create architecture drawings like floor plans and elevations. Its all step by step so you learn really fast. Anyway, I liked it. Doesn't have many metric drawings, but it has some.

Easy to Use
This is a good way to learn AutoCAD LT 2002. You learn how to make it look and feel like AutoCAD 2002, how to draw and print. It even has some 3D projects on it which i didn't know AutoCAD LT could do at all. Good product, easy to install. Good for beginners.

California: Land and Legacy
Published in Hardcover by Westcliffe Pub (October, 1998)
Authors: William B. Fulton and California's Leading Nature Photographer
Average review score:

Beautiful Book
This is a coffee table book full of photographs of California's diverse and varied climates and regions. The theme of the book is California's land, and the relationship Californian's have had with the bounty of their state. The book begins with an introduction by State Historian Kevin Starr and a pictoral history of each region of California. The book can be appreciated for its beautiful photographs and its engaging text. One can understand, after reading this book, the emotions that the beauty of California provoked in naturalists like John Muir and others.

a beautiful suprise
I was given this book today as a conservation award -- it couldnt have been a nicer suprise. the pictures and illustrations are magnificent, and the text is enrapturing. This is a book i will save to share with my children.

Characters of the Passion: Lessons on Faith and Trust
Published in Paperback by Liguori Publications (October, 1998)
Author: Fulton J. Sheen
Average review score:

Gives insight into our Faith
Bishop Sheen as inspiritional as ever. This book is both a history book and a religion book. For those of us who know the Passion and Death of Our Lord so well (or so we think) this is a real eye opener. Ideal for Lent or anytime of the year. Personal meditation.

An excellent meditation--for lent or anytime
Bishop Sheen is an excellent source of wisdom, and he doesn't fail us here. In each chapter, he discusses one of the characters of the passion (Peter, Judas, Pilate, Herod, Claudia and Herodias, Barabbas and the thieves) and shows us what lessons we can draw from each of them--how what the Gospels have to say about them can change the way we live our lives.

A small book, but a powerful book.

Common Sense Supervison: A Handbook for Success As a Supervisor
Published in Paperback by Ten Speed Press (December, 1988)
Author: Roger Fulton
Average review score:

Don't think to hard, it only takes a little "Common Sense"
Common Sense Supervision by Roger V. Fulton is a clear-cut guide for those who have obtained a new supervisory position and/or those who have been in a supervisory position for a short period. I think it is more geared toward the first time supervisor and could be a very useful tool by those who are becoming first time supervisors, whether it be through promotion or direct job placement. Roger V. Fulton has written this book in a clear-cut, no-nonsense style that can be understood by anyone. It touches on many, but not all of the situations that a supervisor may face. The book outlines the major responsibilities of a supervisor and many of the problems they may face with these added responsibilities. It begins by assuring you that you have made strides in the right direction by purchasing the book. The ideas, concepts, and solutions presented in this book are so practical and concise that they can be used immediately to help assist any supervisor be a good or better supervisor than they ever thought they could be. The book also states that its text does not tell you how to handle every situation since every situation, employee, and supervisor is different. I think that is good to let the reader know that this book doesn't have all the answers, which I think no book can do when it comes to dealing with people. The books material really gives you a guide to follow in order to be successful as a supervisor, but it is the individual who must use this guide along with their own common sense to handle each new and challenging situation they may face. The book touches on topics such as your role as a supervisor, getting along with your boss, setting the example for your employees, winning the respect of your employees, winning confidence, and preventing and handling problems in the work environment. The book explains these topics in a common, everyday workplace sense and even gives a brief problem solving method and a decision making process that can be followed by the reader. At times the book seems to be a reassurance for the reader of their abilities to be a successful supervisor. It reads too at times like a confidence builder for someone struggling in the position of supervising or someone unsure of their ability to become a supervisor. I think this book does a great job of providing the reader with a lot of essential information that can be used in everyday situations. It also does a good job of letting the reader know that there is a lot more to being a supervisor than what's contained in its text. The book is merely a start of what it takes to be a successful supervisor, as it states, "experience will be your best teacher and you will be its best student." This book is a great asset for any supervisor, whether it is the new start supervisor looking for success or the already successful supervisor who has forgotten the basics that made them successful in the first place.

A must-read book for anyone in a supervisory position.
This is a very enjoyable book about what it takes to make a good supervisor. With it and it's companion book by the same author, Common Sense Leadership, a person who is new to being in a position of authority, will be able to go into that position with the quotes of great world leaders and thinkers, readily available to meet any situation that arises. Hopefully the book will help the reader avoid costly mistakes and help him or her rise up the leadership ladder.

easy to understand
The book is very easy to understand in every day language. A very good reference book. And the fast service makes this the place to do business!

The easiest book I've ever read on computers.
Ms. Fulton writes a superb book for newbies and techies alike. Newbies will appreciate the easy to understand language; and the techies will appreciate the thoroughness. With a Jan 2000 release date, the technology within is as current as of about late summer 1999. I appreciated that she gave each component it's own chapter. There is an excellent section on home networking as well. The book is mostly on Pentium class computers but she does give an honorable mention to the x86's. Overall, this is the finest computer book I've ever read.. almost riveting! Buy this book!

From the Angel's Blackboard: The Best of Fulton J. Sheen
Published in Paperback by Liguori Publications (October, 1996)
Author: Fulton J. Sheen
Average review score:

A wonderful display of beautiful thoughts.
Bishop Fulton Sheen has written a beautiful collection of thoughts while explaining the rubrics of Christianity. He has long been recognized as eminent in his ability to teach and explain things religious. In this book he sequentially tackles issue after issue using simple analogies to make sense out of the teachings of Scripture. He also explains many hows and whys of the Catholic church.

Bishop Sheen perhaps most importantly makes one think through an enlightening and revealing process which is what attracts me most. I highly reccommend this wonderful book.

A Great Mind
This is a compiled work of Fulton J. Sheen. It has three categories: the Mind, Heart, and Soul. Somehow, he manages to "Catholicized" Freud and Frankl. If you are looking for a scholarly book, this isn't it. But if you are looking for a "chicken soup" for the soul, then this is the book you would want.
